Top quality four draw nickel silver telescope, signed on the first draw, ‘Carpenter & Westley, 24 Regent Street, London’ and also, ‘Adjusted by Broadhurst, Clarkson & Co, 63 Farringdon Road, London. E.C.’

……. with addition engraved initials, ‘G.H.G.’ or ‘H.R.H.’

The telescope measures 8 inches long when closed and just under 28 inches when fully drawn. It has an objective lens of just over 1.5 inches. The barrel finished in dark mahogany and nickel silver. The telescope has a sliding ray shade and dust slider to the eye piece. Top class construction and free of cracks /chips but noting there is a small edge knock to the rim of the eye-piece.

The telescope gives excellent clear views.

Contained in a brown tan leather case (lacking straps) with embossed makers name and address to one end.

Circa 1880; Philip Carpenter formed the company in 1808 and it became Carpenter & Westley in 1835. Carpenter & Westley ceased trading in 1914.
