Description

French hallmarked solid silver gilt quizzer or quizzing glass magnifier pendant, circa 1820
The finely worked stem, a blackamoor caryatid supporting two cornucopia.
Some of the design highlighted / left as silver.
Good original 2,1/2 x magnification, 1,1/4″ or 31mm diameter glass lens, overall length 3,1/16″ or 78mm.
All in excellent condition with no damage or repair, the gilt surface with some light wear.
Guaranteed old and original.
