Description
A mahogany & brass walking stick with a removable end cover and centre section which reveals a hidden telescope. The telescope has a single draw which is signed, ‘Gilbert & Sons, Leadenhall St, London’. The company worked from this address from 1806 – 1819.
The telescope gives a fine, sharp image with a power magnification of 10 x. The lenses are damage free though there is a small dent to the brass cell holding the objective lens.
The walking stick is 33.5″ (85 cm) long when assembled. In over-all good condition. A good example of this rare type of telescope.
