Description

An hourglass with a brass frame made up of two hexagonal bases linked by six columns formed by a brass rod and bordered by a trefoil frieze decorated with openwork hearts.

Inside is a continuous flask of two clear “bubble” glass ampoules, one of which is composed of two spherical bulbs heat-welded together.

The central joint is covered in grey fabric with gold threads and a white sabler inside the bulbs.

Note: This hourglass is a great classic from the second half of the 17th century that can be found in various museums and private collections. An identical model is in the Louvre (coll. Nicolas Landau, inv. OA10793, cat.215).
