Large Graphometer with two telescopes signed Canivet a Paris dated 1767

Silvered Compas with 16 point rose and degree scale  and original needle.

The North point of the compass had an engraved fleur de lys.

Staff mount with universal ball joint and rare leveling screw for adjustments.

Handsome floral motivs and very beautiful engraved

 

Canivet was nephew and student of the famous maker Claude Langlois and was ingénieur of the Academy des Sciences in 1756.
 
Maker of some instrument for the Paris ’s observatory. Some instruments signed Canivet are in Louvre Museum Paris.
