Marine chronometer by Barraud of 41 Cornhill, London, circa 1850.

3 ¼ inch silvered dial, subsidiary seconds dial, and power reserve dial.

Fusee movement, serial no: 5233.

Three tier Mahogany case, with brass fittings, gimble mount, with tipsy key.

Interior of case with the trade label of Carl Ranch of Copenhagen, chronometer maker to the Danish Royal Navy.

The firm of Barraud was established by Paul Philip Barraud (1752-1820), Master of the Clockmakers Company (1810-11), later becoming Barraud & Sons, when his three sons entered into the business. The company became the partnership of Barraud & Lund in 1838 until 1929.
