Description
Nachet Grand Model No. 3 Microscope, superbly preserved and in its original wooden case. This is a large, complete instrument manufactured in France in 1870. The microscope appears as it was supplied from the factory more than 140 years ago. Nachet’s Grand Model was the firm’s most popular model and also its highest quality, considered the finest French microscope of the 19th century. It is in excellent working order and very good cosmetic condition. It has a mechanical stage with micrometric adjustment and horizontal rotation, and has very rare scales for reading movements on the X-Y axes.
The microscope has a solid bronze base supported by two pillars that support the mechanism. It is an extraordinarily heavy instrument. Except for the base and some parts of the stage, it is made entirely of brass. The brass appears smooth, shiny, and well preserved, with the original protective clear lacquer that gives it a beautiful patina. The double mirror is still in good condition. It comes with a complete set of lenses in their brass cases and eyepieces. The storage case is a beautiful, heavy, solid mahogany box with a handle.
The entire set weighs almost 9 kg before packaging.
