Description
Perpetual calendar in mother-of-pearl and gilded brass with three discs.
The upper disc in mother-of-pearl, called ‘CALENDARIUM PERPETUUM’ (perpetual calendar), features a scale of the days of the week with their corresponding astronomical symbols. This disc has a window along the edge for reading the days and is engraved in the centre with a double-headed eagle in relief.
The central disc, made of gold-plated brass, is engraved on both sides with inscriptions useful for the other two discs and borders them.
The lower disc, also made of mother-of-pearl, has six small windows allowing the reader to see, respectively: the sun’s path through the zodiac (‘SONNEN LAUFF’), the month (‘DER MONAT TAGE’), the length of the day (‘TAG LAENGE’), the length of the night (‘NACHT LAENGE’), the time of sunset (‘SONNEN UNTERG’) and the time of sunrise (‘SONEN AUFG’). A rosette in the centre.
Note: Superb quality mother-of-pearl and gilding.
Dimensions: diameter of 4,4 cm x thickness of 0,56 cm.

After 37 years in Le Louvre des Antiquaires, the Delalande gallery moved early June 2015 to 35 rue de Lille, 75007 Paris, on the other side of the Seine River in the well known antic shops area "le Carré Rive Gauche".
Our main specialties are, since 1976, Marine and Scientific instruments, Tobacco and Opium objects, Curiosities and Great Canes.
We participate to international antique fairs (TEFAF Maastricht) and are unique partner of the French Maritime Museum.
