Description
Never used trepanation/mastoidectomy and dental surgery set by Streisguth of France c.1900 with black lacquered ebony wood handles. Instruments are constructed/forged in bright surgical steel. Complete with key. Set measures 15 x 7 x 2 1/2 inches deep (37 x 13 x 6 cm.). Mahogany case. All blueing of screws intact.
Stylised trepan in the 18th/19th C. form with two serrated trephines. Hand trephine with three conical bits/burrs, an Archimedian drill with tube of 6 bits/drills, a molar dental key/extractor with three claws and two part handle, a bone brush in ebony, small trocar, and lamb’s foot tooth elevator. Could be as early as 1880. Museum quality and rarity.
