Description
A 70 mm. long, bone combination wax letter seal and perpetual calendar with hollow stem for pounce? 15 mm. at it’s widest, 10 mm. diameter stem (hollow 5 mm. diameter with screw off top portion). Bottom is checkered (stained with ink but removable-interchangeable?), rotatable lower ring for days of the week and a full 31 day calendar divided into weeks ( 5 x 7 day rows with last row having 4 X’s). Fine machining of the stem and divided in to two, hollow and threaded sections for pounce? wax? pencil leads ? nibs ? Two old, stable cracks in upper section, probably from over tightening. A most unusual and rare desk item for the connoisseur. Probably Georgian.
