A collection of four antique late 19th century amputation saws including a large Charrière saw by H. Windler, a skull saw and two metacarple saws, one marked Allen & Hanburys.
The Charrière amputation saw is marked ‘H. Windler’, it is in good solid condition with small losses to the chrome plating in places, mainly the inside top of the handle. The saw measures 38cm (15″). H. Windler was a German surgical instrument maker active between 1851-1900, based in Berlin.
The skull saw, with the two curved blades, measures 18.3cm (7.25″) in length, the Science Museum in London has some in their collection, here is a link to a very similar example in their collection:

The two metacarple saws measure 20.5cm (8″) in length, one is marked Allen and Hanburys Ltd London.
