Description

SOLD – A single draw, taper barrel telescope signed, ‘Ramsden, London’, measuring 25.5 inches closed and 31.5″ with the draw tube fully drawn. It has an achromatic objective lens of just over 1.5″ ( 4.2 cms ) diameter – an original flint / crown glass which is slightly dusty, internally, but cannot be accessed as the lenses are finished with a crimped finish to the cell. However, it still gives a very clear image.

The taper barrel has an old repaired crack to it. This could be polished out by a competent french polisher without losing the original mahogany tone.

The lens cap may not be original as there is no lacquer present ( the collars still retain original lacquer) though it does have a ‘rope’ effect finish similar to the rear collar and eye piece. It may have just been previously cleaned.
