Description

A fine and small surveyor’s compass in anodized brass by Marratt, London c.1830. Showing little signs of use (small scratches to underside), this simple theodolite boasts a silvered and raised 4 1/2 inch compass dial with 8 cardinal point, engine divided 360 degree outer bearing ring, locking tab and plain needle (points North). Mahogany case is missing it’s hooks but otherwise in good condition inside and out. Total length 7 inches. Case measures 7 1/2 x 5 x 2 1/2 inches deep. Sighting vanes do not fold. To be used on a single pole (knurled screw for tightening to poles of varying diameter).
