A very good, early 19th century, mahogany, six inch pocket compass with silvered dial by Dollond, London.

Description
A very good, six inch, mahogany pocket compass by Dollond of London c.1800. Silvered dial divided by cardinal points and outer ring of 360 degrees, divided into one degree increments. Dial is near perfect, original needle (points to magnetic North) and glass. Pin in case to lock compass needle. Old repair to rear of case (see photos) and hinges having two screws replaced due to loss at time of fracture. Outer case has no damage and the original L-shaped clasps are intact. A good example by an excellent maker.
