Description

A very rare model of a French two-column microscope, bearing the signature and label of Secrétan, successor to Lerebours.

This two-column microscope, with its foot made of blackened cast iron, is a typical example of French microscope design from the second half of the 19th century. The models commonly found are usually unsigned. Later examples, signed by Radiguet, are occasionally encountered, but those bearing the signature of Secrétan are extremely rare.

The microscope is in excellent condition, complete and fully functional.

It retains its two eyepieces, numbered 2 and 3, its achromatic triplet objective lens, a condenser lens mounted on a brass stand, a slide holder, some prepared slides, and its magnification card.

The entire set is well preserved in its original mahogany carrying case.

The case measures 28 x 15 x 8.5 cm.
