Description

A rare and early example of a camera lucida by Gavard and signed “Gavard Par brevet d’invention” with the Gavard stamp on both sides on the stand.

The instrument is complete and in good working order with its small prism and its two colored glass.

Charles Gavard is famous for improved the Wollaston’s camera lucida with an instrument of its invention, the diagraphe.

Camera lucida signed by him are quite rare.

The instrument is preserved in its original wooden case measuring 38×6,5x3cm.
