French rectangular brass, travel sundial with compass. C. 1720. Signed: <em>Jacques Le Maire AParis au Genie</em>. At the rear, various latitudes engraved for different cities in Europe. The adjustable gnomon, shaped as a dolphin, points with its tail to the latitude scale. Dimensions 8 x 6 x 1,5 cm. A special brass Sundial of “Pre Le Maire A Paris”, C 1740. The dimensions of the are 6.7 x 8 cm, the regular sundials are of smaller size (6 x 6.5 cm). Antique curved bistoury scalpel by Sir Henry a Paris

A very nice antique curved bistoury scalpel by “Sir Henry a Paris” (mark can be read only partially on the blade), with tortoiseshell handle. In great shape, I can notice only a chip in the handle (please see pics), lenght open 21 cm. The maker “Sir Henry” was “Coutelier de la Facultè de Medecine de Paris”, we’ve been able to find a reprint of an old book dedicated to him and his art, dated 1821 (see pic).   An important and decorative amputation  saw,  own by Doctor Pierre Lefort (1767- 1843) , 1804. The amputation saw is made by a cutler and a surgical instrument maker TABOUREUX À LYON (circa 1790). Napoleonic Surgical Set: Lichtenberger, Strasbourg

A part , two-layer, surgical set by Lichtenberger working in Strasbourg. The firm was in business from 1740 to 1870. This set dates from the 1780-1820 period and near-identical set is in the Wellcome Collection at the London Science Museum.
