Full title: ‘Description of an improved air-pump, and the account of some experiments made with it’, extracted from the Philosophical Transactions, Vol. 73, pp. 435–452.
Tiberius Cavallo (1749–1809) was an Italian natural philosopher who made improvements to many instruments; he settled in London and became a Fellow of the Royal Society. Here he gives a detailed and extensive description of a new air-pump, illustrated with three large folding plates showing the specifics of the design in immense detail.
Condition: very good; paper is age-toned but generally clean and bright; the plates are good, noting only some minor spotting (but see pictures). Rebound in plan card covers.
