Description
Folding brass square signed “Giovanni Maccari Fecit Roma 1667” on the outer edge.
The instrument consists of two main arms mounted on a hinge.
The hinge is engraved on both sides with a pretty rosace and acanthus leaves decoration at the ends, which are moulded.
Inside these main arms are two small arms connected by a small hinge engraved with a rosace on both sides and a scale from 0
to 100.
These two small arms open horizontally and allow the instrument to be locked in the open position, forming a square.
Plumb line missing.
