Description

Measuring just 3 1/2 inches long (9 cm.) with a lens diameter of 1 1/4 inches (3 cm.), this single draw pocket telescope has seen use, but not abuse. The achromatic doublet object lens is intact (nice green glass), the image is sharp (focal range 10-12 cm.-demarcation on barrel). The brass work (knurling ) is diagonal and very fine. All of the screws (8) to the barrel are intact. The barrel may have been covered at some time but has developed a nice patina, if not. The eyepiece has a bayonet-type slider over the lens and is NOT variable in magnification (as was seen in later models with a rotating turret of beads). The signature “Dollond London” is in flowing script. The inner barrel is nice and tight. Magnification is 5-10X. The object lens comes with a protective, threaded cap. No dents or bruises.
