A good Georgian thread counter/loupe with early roping/knurling of the brass c.1820.
Identical to a telescope eyepiece of the era with sliding ocular lens protector. 1 1/4 inch (35 mm) diameter with square slot at object end. 1 5/8 inches (40 mm.) closed, 2 1/4 inches fully drawn (55 mm.). For security and ease of use, the eyepiece does not withdraw completely i.e. there is a mechanical stop in the barrel. Excellent optics with 10X magnification. Great design for pocket use. Could be used for a variety of hobbies. Square hole insert can be removed to use as a simple loupe. Small area of verdegris on barrel. No case.
