Description

Impressive compound microscope in black-tinted turned wood.

 

The body is stylishly shaped with a serie of concentric rings of reducing sizes both way from a central cylindrical part covered with a brown leather wearing a gold-tooled frieze.

 

Over the eye lens the top cover also ringed shaped.

 

The focussing is achieved by screwing (endless worm) with lock system within the side-pillar itself mounted on the bevel edged hexagonal base.

 

Literature: at this stage we could only refer to a similar model in the Kölnisches Stadtmuseum in Cologne announced as « Germany XVIII century » (please see the last 3 pictures)

 

Dimensions: 47 cm high, base : length of 21.5, width of 21.5 cm, thickness of 3 cm.
