Description

Immisch patent avitreous or skin thermometer, circa 1890.

The one inch diameter, engine engraved silver dial with blued steel pointer marked

MAYER & MELTZER LONDON PATENT

Concentric hand painted red and black scales in Fahrenheit and Centigrade, 98.4 F marked with a black arrow

German born Moritz Immisch was a well known clinical instrument maker and obtained the patent for this small, watch-shaped thermometer in 1881.

Unmarked solid silver pocket watch style case with original fancy chain and ring noting insignificant dents to the case edge.

In good working order, quickly responds and is accurate.

Similar instruments were also marked by S.Maw and Pillischer
