A part , two-layer, surgical set by Lichtenberger working in Strasbourg. The firm was in business from 1740 to 1870. This set dates from the 1780-1820 period and near-identical set is in the Wellcome Collection at the London Science Museum. See link that follows <http://collectionsonline.nmsi.ac.uk/detail.php?t=objects&type=all&f=&s=Lichtenberger&record=2> As the images and link make evident, a number of instruments are missing, but those that remain are in good order noting the crack in the saw handle.
