Description

A fine example of the E. Leitz universal rotating stage (UT-5) for optical investigations of crystals using the Fedorov method.

Signed  Leitz, Wetzlar, GERMANY this Leitz stage accessory has the A1 – A4 axes for greater stability and simplified operation. The Wright arcs are present. This seldom seen stage was intended primarily for classroom demonstration and for use with a universal stage refractometer. Rarely used with ALL inserts marked with their refractive indices. 

Mahogany case measures 9 x 6 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches with all inserts filled and secure hinges and clasp. Minor exterior scuffs. It sold in 1971 from the Leitz catalogue for $1300.
