Description

A small two draw measuring 4″ in length when closed and 9.25″ fully open.

Unsigned with makers name but engraved with owner’s name and initials: ‘Benjamin Brown, Leeds’ around the front collar; ‘March 1862’ around the back collar; intitails ‘B.B.’ to the lens cap and also to the back collar and both draw tubes. The eye piece is engraved, ‘B.B. 1862’.

The main lens  has a diameter of 1.25″ and the lens cap is threaded and screws onto the body. The eye piece is missing the small slider.

Mahogany barrel devoid of cracks.

This is a simple Galilean telescope with a one lens filament to each end. Magnification is around 4 – 5 x.
