The meridian circle, on the signature side, bears two latitude scales from 0 to 90 (for the northern and southern hemispheres) as well as two cities with their latitude (Paris 49 – Brussels 51). An early French silver and gilt-brass miniature sundial, circa 1660-1670

A splendid octagonal miniature sundial (46×35 mm) with a fixed gnomon in gilt brass, attributable to Salomon Chesnon II from Blois.   The silver plate is engraved with the hours from III to XII and I to VIII , divided into half-hours. The miniature compass is in perfect genuine condition with its original needle still magnetised. At the back the signature is not original but later.
