A fine signed example of Charriere’s rowel saw for osteological surgery. Steel and brass with checkered ebony handles. The earliest reference we can find for the saw is in Bernard and Huette’s Specimen Des Instruments De Chirurgie Modèles Charrière: Extrait Du Précis Iconographique De Médecine Opératoire… (Paris: 1854, plate V)*, but it was probably introduced some years before that date.
