A large and fine pair of 18th century wrought iron French dividers with distinctive heart motif. Large (15 inch / 38.3cm) wrought iron dividers of the type used in stone masonry or carpentry. The square head features heart pendants and the legs are file worked with geometric motifs surrounding a heart shaped void. Signed ML. In excellent condition with fine patina, fully functional. This finely colored terrestrial globe with 12 engraved and colored paper gores on papermache/plaster sphere, papermache full meridian and horizon ring, turned wood stand. A cased set of dental excavators by Favre, working in Paris. Lacks only one instrument but otherwise as it left Favre’s workshop. The instruments are un-plated steel and are all signed “FAVRE”. While nineteenth-century medical wallets are common as mice, dental wallets are quite scarce. Length of case as shown in first image: 8″ or 20cm. A pair of French veterinary castration devices: a compression forceps and testicle forceps made E. Julié working in Castres, c1900. Very fine quality with nickel-plating largely intact and both distinctively marked by maker as shown in first image . In an article by Julié in the premier issue of the Journal de l’agriculture de la ferme et des maisons de campagnes. Large and important Graphometer – Lenoir, Paris, ca. 1780

Graphometers were used by cartographers and hydrographers to measure horizontal angles. This large graphometer, 38 cm wide, with compass is in a very good condition. The main directions on the compass are fully marked with Nord, Sud, West en Ouest. The two scales are engraved by hand. The instrument is made by Etienne Lenoir (1744 – 1832) who had his workshop in Paris. In his time Lenoir was considered as the best designer of nautical and observation instruments. See Read More...

Offered for sale are large (55cm) wrought iron French dividers. Beautifully decorated with round head, leaf pendants, and file worked legs forming foliate designs surrounding a heart. In excellent condition and fully functional. Dividers of this size were often used by stonemasons, shipwrights or coopers. Fine brown patina.
