Description
The lacquered brass body measures a fraction over 4.5″ diameter and had a depth of 1″. The japanned base plate is 4.75″ diameter and is engraved in script, ‘L. Casella. Maker to the Admiralty & Ordnance. London. No 57’. And further engraved, ‘S & A.D. AST: PHYS: 81’. The latter being possibly being a later inscription relating to an Astro-physics department.
The base plate has four locating lugs and the user can turn the body to four different positions, a locating arm fixes the body & dial to the desired position. The base also has three levelling screws.
Contained in mahogany case ( 5.5″ x 5.5″ x 7.5″ high) with brass handle and fastening hook to the door.
