Description
Unusual Victorian rolled gold folding/hinged nose bridge spectacles
The hinged bridge designed to close and fit the nose, griping on the engraved chequered patches on the rims, like pince-nez specs.
The pivot rivet is not quite tight enough to hold the frame to grip the nose, this would tighten if needed.
Frame with ring to grip, to be hand held like lorgnettes, fitted with a vintage lanyard cord.
Good low power reading lenses or used together make a good magnifier.
In good sound condition, some very light folding scratches on the lenses, the thick gold surface with no obvious wear.
In later, fine leather case marked DUNSCOMBE (Late Braham) OPTICIAN BRISTOL, see link
