Uncommon form of a compass forming analemmatic sundial, France, 17th century. On the upper face we find the sundial with its elliptical scale graduated 4-12-8. The center is pierced in the shape of a cross inside which two brass pivots slide, one of which is used to receive the magnetic needle. A splendid octagonal miniature sundial (46×35 mm) with a fixed gnomon in gilt brass, attributable to Salomon Chesnon II from Blois.   The silver plate is engraved with the hours from III to XII and I to VIII , divided into half-hours. The miniature compass is in perfect genuine condition with its original needle still magnetised. At the back the signature is not original but later.
