Earthware retorts, Gilbert Orleans, C 1870

An earthware retorts signed by Gilbert, Orleans. C 1870. In the Alchemy and early Chemistry used earthware vessel consisting of a spherical flask with a long spout, which is more than 90 degrees and so was reversed to a lower mouth ran. The retort was used for distillation: in the spout condensing vapour walked to the mouth the barrel out. Measurements: 25 x 14 x 19 cm high.
